Your Interior Design Business, but better
It’s Spring. Time to stop guessing and start growing: A planning session for Interior Designers.
Hello,
My coaching head is firmly on! I’ve been finalising a business planning session (details below) and getting ready for a full week away in Stratford-upon-Avon for my coaching intensive.
I can’t wait. I love learning and investing in my personal and professional growth, and this week-long deep dive ticks all the boxes.
It’s one of the things I miss most from my corporate days at Microsoft—the opportunity to be funded to learn new skills and the chance to travel (although, admittedly, most of my work trips involved little more than an airport, office, and hotel!).
Speaking of funding—I just discovered the Skills Escalator Fund, a UK-wide initiative that offers £750 towards training or coaching through local councils. I haven’t checked the details for my area yet, but it’s worth looking into!
Planning with Heart – A business planning session for Interior Designers
I’ve spoken to a number of interior designers recently who feel like their business is a grind. They know they need to take action, but between spinning all the plates and keeping money coming in, they just don’t have time to figure out the next right step.
What they do know? They don’t want to still be struggling this time next year. When you’re buried in work, but it feels like wading through treacle, it’s exhausting.
When you’re head down, beavering away, trying everything you can think of—how do you actually know what’s working for your business and what’s not?
It’s a little like throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping something sticks.
Other designers have told me that, actually, things are going okay - but they didn’t leave a well-paid corporate gig just to be doing okay. They know they could be doing better - bringing in more consistent work and attracting more aligned clients. But how?
The solution
There’s no shortage of advice out there—but everyone seems to have a different answer about what works.
Instead of second-guessing, I’d suggest it’s time to:
✔ Get a clear vision for your business (remember the excitement you had when you first set up?!)
✔ Stop wasting time second-guessing every move
✔ Focus on the activity that will actually move the needle in your business
✔ Get clarity on what to drop and where to put your energy instead
That’s why I’m running Planning with Heart—a 90-minute online session designed to help you get out of the weeds, gain clarity in your business, and build a plan that actually works for you.
Why now?
I’ve run business planning sessions earlier in the year before, but it never felt quite right. You may have heard me say before - winter is not the time for fresh ideas and boundless energy.
But Spring? Hell, yes!
As your energy naturally rises at this time of year, it’s the perfect time to cast a vision for where you want to take your business, dream big, and finally get a clear action plan in place.

The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan
I just finished my latest book club read. A beautifully written novel about identity, mother-daughter relationships, and cultural heritage. If you love books that make you think about how stories shape us, this is a great one to add to your list.
Our book club gave it an 8/10 (yes, we score!).
Thanks, as always, for being here. Next week sees another edition of the Insider Scoop.
